Crocodile Comparison - Non-Fiction A very simple but engaging lesson based on two non-fiction texts involving crocodile attacks in Australia. The aim of the lesson is for students to identify explicit information from each text then do a comparison between them. Lesson includes, Power Point slide, articles and a croc writing sheet. A nice visual starter. Wonders of the world. Students simply have to try and identify each of the seven wonders. A good starter to use with travel writing or descriptive writing or just trying to broaden students horizons.

A useful kinaesthetic activity. Cut out the following and place into pacts and get student to rearrange into the correct order. A simple and effective way to make literacy and learning fun. Literacy bingo! Students have to spot the incorrect word as each sentence appears (common literacy errors such as there/their, was/were etc) and replace them with the correct word. Engage even the most reluctant learners with this exciting, tried and tested literacy activity! Students pick a monster and have to write a mini-sage which is a story with EXACTLY 50 words. Because of the extreme word limit, students are immediately challenged to think carefully and creatively about their language choices for maximum effect. It also removes potential barriers to learning because the 50 word limit does not over-face students who struggle to write at length.
